What the RC alarm means
A Robot System Configuration (RSC) fault — the calibration/setup data the servo relies on is invalid or missing. This is one of the faults our repair team handles on Omron SmartController (ACE / Viper / Cobra) systems — the cause is usually identifiable within the first on-site inspection.
Most common causes
- Encoder battery failure corrupting calibration
- SD card or setup file corruption
- RSC utility run incorrectly
- Controller restore without matching robot data
Step-by-step field fix
- Back up the current setup files before touching anything
- Run the RSC service utility (RSC_SET) per the service documentation to clear/reset the fault
- Re-calibrate joints against mechanical references
- Verify the SD card health and setup file integrity
- Involve the OEM service office if calibration cannot be restored
